\u00a0The Socialist Party won the European elections in Portugal with 32.1% of the vote, followed by the Democratic Alliance with 31.1%. Chega confirmed the results of the legislative elections, consolidating its position as the third most voted political force with 9.8% of the vote. However, the result for the Liberal Initiative (IL), with 9.1%, was the big surprise of the night eclipsing Chega\u2019s victory.\u00a0 The parties of the radical left were the big losers of the election night. Bloco de Esquerda (BE) with 4.3% and CDU with 4.1%, elected only their lead candidates and PAN lost its representation in the EP. In the left political spectrum, although it did not secure a seat, Livre was the only party to defy the downward trend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
